Values

At the heart of Kettering Mind's work lie the following core values:

  • Person-centred, putting the needs and aspirations of current and potential service users first
  • Respect for individuality, the ‘whole person’ and their culture
  • Active participation by service users and carers in the work and decision making of Kettering Mind
  • Informed choice based on empowerment and social inclusion
  • Quality, professional, innovative and accessible services that provide value for money
  • Innovative, forward looking, initiating and responding to change

Aims

To achieve our purpose, Kettering Mind will provide cost effective activities, opportunities and services that:

  • Enable people to live as independently as possible
  • Enable people to cope with, manage and improve their own mental health
  • Open doors to fulfilling activity and valued roles in the community
  • To reduce the stigma and discrimination about mental health
  • To educate and increase wellbeing in the local community

Mission Statement

Our vision is of a society that promotes and protects good mental health for all, and that treats people with experience of mental distress fairly, positively and with respect.

The needs and experiences of people with mental distress drive our work and we make sure their voice is heard by those who influence change.

Our independence gives us the freedom to stand up and speak out on the real issues that affect daily lives.

We provide information and support, campaign to improve policy and attitudes and, in partnership with National Mind and local Mind associations, develop local services.

We do all this to make it possible for people who experience mental distress to live full lives, and play their full part in society.

We are working to:

Change society: Mind influences and changes public attitudes and government policy and practice towards people with mental distress.

Provide support: Mind helps people to take control over their mental health. We do this to make it possible for people who experience mental distress to live full lives, and play their full part in society.

Give people a voice: The needs and experiences of people with mental distress drive our work and we make sure their voice is heard. We will champion the right of people with direct experience of mental distress to have a voice and be heard.

Create mentally healthy communities: Mind works with the local Mind association network and other partners to improve the delivery of services for people experiencing mental distress.

Quality Policy

Kettering Mind recognises the importance of the Mind Quality System. This policy outlines how Kettering Mind will implement and maintain quality management.

The management team lead the quality standards monitoring group, which meets monthly. This group is open to anyone involved with Kettering Mind, who is interested in being actively involved in monitoring the services and Standards that the organisation provides. The management team can co-opt people who have more in depth knowledge of a service, as and when that service is being looked at / reviewed.

The management team will work on attaining the best possible level in the appropriate service standards, and support other workers involved in quality management, in between the monthly groups.

The management team will report to the Executive Committee the progress of the quality management in Kettering Mind.
